HOSPITAL EMERGENCY INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM (HEICS) HEICS Readme 98.txt This copy of HEICS (Second Edition May, 1993) was formatted and produced using Word for Windows 6.0/95 and a Panasonic KX-4420 Laser Printer. The file was converted from a copy of HEICS formated in WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS. Every effort was made to preserve all formatting when converting it to Word for Windows 6.0/95. Before printing a copy of this document on any printer the following should be taken into consideration: TOTAL NUMBER OF PAGES: When the document is opened in Word for Windows 6.0/95 or Word97, it should indicate 312 as the total number of pages. If the total number of pages is different (more or less pages) it is caused by the printer being used with the current computer system. The document then must be reviewed for formatting discrepencies. When I opened the document in Word97 and a HP4000 Laser Printer the total number of pages changed to 340. This was due to the Job Action Sheet Section only (the formatting pushed some of the text to the next page). FOLLOWING ARE THE SECTIONS AND PAGES OF THE PRINTED DOCUMENT - NOT SECTIONS OF THE FILE ITSELF: Introduction 6 pages Section 1 10 pages Section 2 60 pages Section 3 13 pages Section 4 4 pages Section 5 9 pages Section 6 5 pages Section 7 8 pages Section 8 7 pages Section 9 3 pages Section 10 3 pages Section 11 70 pages Section 12 25 pages Section 13 57 pages Section 14 29 pages Section 15 3 pages STATISTICS: When using Word for Windows 6.0/95 or Word97 and you would like to check that the file is displayed as it should be, go to the menu and select FILE, SUMMARY INFO, then STATISTICS. Wait for Word to calculate the words (1-2 minutes). After calculating, the Statistics should read as follows: Pages: 312 Words: 67,063 Characters: 370,145 Paragraphs: 7,022 Lines: 14,758 BOOKMARKS: Bookmarks were inserted in the document. Use the menu commands EDIT, GO TO, and BOOKMARK to go to a certain section of the document. NOTE: This document was converted so that it could be printed as a clean copy for duplicating and/or updating areas for use by interested facilities. There is no guarantee that it is 100% compatible with all computers and/or printers. Many hours (80+) were spent to convert the document with the hope of making it easier for users to update for their facility (especially the Job Action Sheet section). Even if this document is not 100% compatible it will save many hours when making updates/changes. Good luck and enjoy! Any Questions? Contact: Fire & Disaster Training Services Urban J.
